KS4 Choices Evening on Tuesday 17 January 2012 6.00 - 7.30pm
The Choices Request Form completed by Friday 27 January 2012

All year 9 parents will have received a letter giving details of the Key Stage 4 Choices process on Wednesday 14th December. The Choices Request Form enclosed with this letter must be completed by Friday 27 January 2012. A copy of the form is printed overleaf for you to keep a record of the choices your child has made. Before this deadline, you and your child will have further opportunities to gather the information you need to make choices for Key Stage 4.You and your child will be able to talk to subject teachers about their current progress at the Subject Consultation Evening on Thursday 12 January 2012. An appointment sheet is enclosed for this consultation evening.

There will be an opportunity for you to find out more about the courses available for your child from September 2012 by attending the KS4 Choices Evening on Tuesday 17 January 2012. This event will give you and your child the opportunity to find out more detail about the choices process during a presentation in the main hall between 6.00 and 6.30pm, and speak to students and staff involved in KS4 courses at the Subject Fair between 6.30 and 7.30pm.

Between 30 January and 3 February 2012 your child will be interviewed by a senior member of staff to ensure students are making appropriate choices. Occasionally a change may need to be made to the form, in which case a copy will be made for your child to take home.

Our curriculum planning is in line with 14 - 19 developments and the current National Curriculum. We encourage all students to follow a broad, balanced and relevant course of study up to the age of 16, in order to provide a sound basis for further progression. We know that by keeping the curriculum broad and balanced no future opportunities will be closed by 'wrong' choices at this stage.

We have found that our programme of support and guidance for students in making their choices for KS4 has been very effective in helping them to make positive, informed choices. Please help us and your child by attending the events we have arranged on 12 January and 17 January 2012 together and reading the Key Stage 4 Choices Guide carefully.

We look forward to two further enriching and enjoyable years for your child at St Peter's. We believe that by working in partnership with you, we can ensure that this happens.
